Visible Language is a quarterly design journal, edited by Sharon Poggenpohl. This special issue, issue number 37.2, focuses on the cultural dimensions of communication design. To reflect the textural element of culture, as well as to give the journal a lively, playful visual, found elements and objects were scanned on a flat bed scanner.

Examples include a kimono fabric sample, rice, and toliet paper (all represented content in articles).
